See the color change for yourself — every photo on this page is the same ring, shot under different light.
✨ Experience the unique magic of the VooDooStone™ — the trademarked color-changing gem found only at David's Antiques & Jewelry in New Orleans. The VooDooStone sees light differently than the human eye and shifts between three colors: a purplish-pink in daylight, a golden amber under warm incandescent light, and a vivid peridot green under fluorescent light.
Two round-cut VooDooStones face each other across an open gap at the top of the band, each held in four slender prongs. The shank tapers from the stones down to a narrow polished back in .925 Sterling Silver, so the two gems sit high and read as the whole of the ring.
Because the band is open rather than closed, it has a little give — you can ease it a half size either way to settle it where you want it on the finger. That makes it forgiving across knuckles, and easy to wear on a different finger depending on the day.
Two stones means twice the color. They turn together under the same light, so the ring goes from raspberry to cognac to green as a pair — which is exactly what you see across the photographs on this page. Part of David’s VooDooStone Collection — the bestselling line at our French Quarter storefront on Royal Street.
FAQs
What makes the VooDooStone special?
The VooDooStone responds to the color temperature of light, so it changes from purplish-pink to golden amber to peridot green as you move from daylight to indoor lamps to fluorescent light. VooDooStone™ is a trademarked gem, exclusive to David's Antiques & Jewelry in the French Quarter.
Is the color change real, or is it the photography?
It is real. Every photo on this page is the same ring. We simply moved it between a warm indoor lamp, open daylight and cool shade. Hold it under a window and then under a lamp and you will see it yourself.
How does the sizing work?
The band is open at the top, so each size flexes a little — about a half size either way. We stock 5, 7 and 9, which between them cover most fingers. If you are a 6, take the 5 and ease it open; if you are an 8, take the 7 or the 9. Call the shop if you would like us to help you choose.
Will it lose its shape?
Sterling has some spring to it. Adjust it gently with your fingers rather than pliers, a little at a time, and it will hold. Repeated hard bending is what tires any open band, so set it once and leave it.
How do I care for sterling silver?
Wipe with a soft polishing cloth, avoid harsh chemicals, chlorine and perfume, and store in a dry pouch to slow tarnish.
Can I see it in the shop?
Yes. We are at 322 Royal Street in the French Quarter, New Orleans. You are welcome to come try it on.
